Beaches

The local beaches vary from the very popular beach in La Arena, to the quiet of Puerto Santiago fishing cove and the beaches in Los Gigantes.  If you travel a little further afield then the golden beaches of the South of the island are available to you either in the busy resorts of Los Christianos and Las Americas or of El Medano where windsurfing and sail-boarding are real attractions.  There is also a naturist beach and the beaches are well served for parking and easily accessible.

Shops

In the complex close to the apartment you will find a selection of shops including a supermarket open until 10pm every evening.  Close by, a short walk up the hill, you will find a very varied local shopping centre with all manner of shops ranging from clothes shops, souvenir shops, artists studios, perfumery, hardware store and all local amenities.  This part of Puerto Santiago is really very Spanish anything that you need can be found. 

Los Gigantes itself has a splendid array of shops selling all manner of goods including some designer outlets.

Playa de las Americas has a whole area between Playa de la Americas and Los Christianos which is full of designer shops and outlets such as Escada, Chanel, Gucci and even now a Zara.  Of course the capital, Santa Cruz has a full range of shops and is most certainly worth a visit not only for shops but also its architecture and culture.

Food shopping is no problem with very many large supermarkets within easy reach. 

Sports

 There are all manner of sporting activities available from go-karting to scuba-diving, water skiing, parasailing and even camel riding.   Details can be obtained from the outlets dealing with tours which are conveniently located in the complex close to the apartments.

Exploring

 There are many square miles of forest to be explored with many unspoilt areas where you will not see another soul.  The Mount Tiede National Park covers a large area in the centre of the island and can be reached either through one of the organised tours or with car hire.  Should you wish to go off the beaten track then hiring of a 4x4 would be recommended.  The area will delight both the nature lover and the photographer.

Local Facilities

 There is a pharmacy close to the apartment and an Internet café where the staff are very friendly and the charges are only 1 euro for half an hour!
